December 12th, 2008Where Does Dog Hair Come From?
If ever I’m feeling a la
ck of abundance all I need to do is think about dog hair. Our yellow lab, Roxie, is a shedder. She provides us with a never ending supply of dog hair. After vacuuming the rugs and floors I brush her, just to try to get ahead of the game. The amount of hair that comes off her and into the brush could make another dog!
Why am I blogging about dog hair? Well…the last time I brushed Roxie I got to thinking that dog hair comes from the same source as everything else. And if I know that dog hair is unlimited, then it’s probably true that there are lots of other things that are unlimited too. Like ants, for example. Or flies. And here are a few more: sand, leaves, grass clippings, pens, salt, junk mail, advertisements, and rocks. And how about these: wishes, blessings, love, humor, smiles, visions, friendship, opportunities, ideas, creativity, wisdom, growth, breakthroughs, stars, dreams, music and art.
Is this then also true for physical and financial well-being, or are these arenas somehow governed by a different source? Hmmm…something to think about as I brush Roxie, and learn to appreciate dog hair.

Very interesting connection there! I LOVE your dog! Although, the biggest reason I don’t own a dog is for the very fact that I don’t want dog hair anywhere! Unlimited dog hair…you’ve got to love him if you put up with that! (I’m sure I’ll be experiencing it eventually…I can only say NO to my children about owning a dog for so long. And I’m sure that I will fall in love with him/her…dog hair and all)!

I think next time I’ll look for a non shedding type of dog! But Roxie is a real sweetheart, hair and all! And, speaking of saying “no” to your children, Roxie actually “belongs” to our daughter who has since grown up and moved to a place of her own!

I could have made many sweaters, blankets, scarves, hats…etc from all of the hair my dogs have shed over the years and I kind of wished I had…Hey Labs can in no way compete with shepherds in the shedding category. Here’s another one…. have you ever thought about ear wax…. it just keeps coming and coming…..maybe candles.

Ha! Well Shepherds have big hair, which is easier to locate, but Labs have tiny hair and lots of it. Harder to manage, I’m sure. Maybe hair gel would help the situation. And ear wax candles is a great recycling idea. You go first!

Thanks for the fun insights about dog hair. It really made me think. Great connection with the ants, grass clippings, and money. Wonderful.

Thanks, Amy. It really is something to think about, isn’t it!

It is very amazing how dogs and cats grow so much hair. They don’t even have the problem that humans do of thinning out when they get old. Maybe this will be a future science project to help humans grow tons of hair like dogs do!

Yes - I forgot about cats! Oh my…hairballs, too. It would be fascinating to know why animals don’t go bald with as much hair as they lose, and yet humans do go bald although they lose a lot less hair!

Love your musings, and I love the picture of Roxie. Right now I am experiencing abundance, mega-abundance. It is manifesting in the form of ants in my kitchen. There are so many of them! But after reading your blog, I’m thinking that abundance is abundance - it’s a frequency. I ought to be able to shift the form from ants to money. What do you think? I’ll keep you posted…

Yes - ants, money it’s all one! You can do it, I know you can!

I saw a hub once on the furminator. Apparently a couple who had a dog grooming business invented a particular sort of comb that once you brushed you pet with it, the amount of hair found around the house became noticeably reduced. I think it said they were around $40. I believe they were also on that tv show Donny Deutsch.

I love the name, The Furminator! Does it come with someone who will do the daily furminating? I’ve purchased several updated dog combs and they all work pretty well…but the thing is I don’t do it often enough! It’s me, not the tool! Meanwhile, the weather is warming up and here comes the hair!!
